Hi experts,
We will be travelling to Switzerland this year end.
Would like to seek your advice on how to travel from Montreux to Zermatt WITH a Swiss Travel pass.
Reservation needed?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Jane A.

Yes, exactly. The trains run from Montreux to Visp every 1/2 Hour. Just change trains there. (When you get off the train from Montreux you will hear announcements about which platform to go to for Zermatt. It will probably be 3. Walk down the ramp or stairs to the tunnel and then up to the platform indicated.
From Montreux if you sit on the right hand side facing the engine you get a great, close up view of the château de Chillon a couple of minutes after leaving Montreux.
Visp to Zermatt is roughly a little over an hour. And a pretty ride. Quite a lot of the carriages these days are panoramic – try to get on one of those.

You take the train with a change in Visp. The Swiss Travel Pass is your ticket so no purchases or reservations are necessary. You just find a seat in the class for which your pass is valid. For planning the journey, with times and platform numbers, use http://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html
